Safety & Recalls
Recall 92V014000 started on /Date(697438800000-0500)/.
Summary: ONE OR MORE OF THE BOLTS MOUNTING THE STEERING RACK TO THE CHASSIS OF THE VEHICLE MAY HAVE BEEN STRETCHED, DUE TO OVER TORQUING IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS, CAUSING SOME OF THE BOLTS TO LOOSEN.
Consequence: THE LOOSE MOUNTING BOLTS MAY ALLOW THE STEERING RACK TOSHIFT WHICH WOULD RESULT IN A NON-CENTERED STEERING WHEEL, LESS PRECISESTEERING CONTROL, AND DAMAGE TO THE STEERING RACK.
Remedy: REPLACE THE STEERING RACK BOLTS WITH BOLTS OF A HIGHER STRENGTH; REPLACE THE STEERING RACK IF IT IS DAMAGED.
Recall 92V061000 started on /Date(704347200000-0400)/.
Summary: THE REAR ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER NEAR THE CRUISE CONTROL SERVO MOTOR SLIPS, CAUSING THE SAFETY CLIP IN THE SERVO MOTOR ARM TO BIND DUE TO INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE. IF THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE BINDS, THE ENGINE DOES NOT RETURN TO IDLE WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION IS DISENGAGED, RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE SPEED NOT BEING REDUCED AS EXPECTED.
Consequence: WHEN THE VEHICLE SPEED IS NOT REDUCED WHEN THE CRUISECONTROL IS DISENGAGED, STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASES WHICH CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLEACCIDENT.
Remedy: INSTALL A BOLT AND WASHER ON THE REAR ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER TO PREVENT SLIPPING AND TO INSURE THE NECESSARY CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE SAFETY CLIP AND THE COVER.
